MIL Girls Basketball: LAHAINALUNA 62, King Kekaulike 11 - December 22, 2011

Rrroaaawwrrr!

The game was supposed to start at 7:00pm but did not start till after 8:30pm. That didn't matter. The Lady Lunas dominated throughout to post a 62-11 win over King Kekaulike, a team that represented the MIL at states last year. Under new coach Mark Fernandez, who took over after Steven Cramer ran into some legal troubles, the Na Alii were no match for the speed, depth and toughness of the Lady Lunas.

My Two Cents

It was nice to see some alumni returning to catch the games, as is often the case around Christmas time. Back from college were Maiki Viela, Micah Arcangel, Leroy Rickard, Rachael Rickard. I also saw former members of the 2010 Lady Lunas state champs, Hiilei Bacalso and Maika Cabrera. Welcome home!

It was a long day, but knowing that it was Christmas around the corner and no games to shoot over the weekend made it tolerable. Hopefully no one was killed in that car accident. And hopefully, this will be my last game shot in the dreary confines of Lahainaluna gym for this season!
