SEABURY HALL WAHINE CLASSIC: LAHAINALUNA 82, Kalaheo 18: December 2, 2011

I rushed over to the Seabury Hall campus after the boys JV game was over at the Kamehameha Schools Maui campus. By the time I got through the door from the lower parking lot, the first quarter was already underway and the Lady Lunas were up over the Mustangs of Kalaheo. At the end of the first quarter, the score was 19-4.

The second quarter was surreal. Kalaheo could not get the ball past half court. Turnovers, both forced and unforced. The Lady Lunas just have a way of making opposing ball handlers dribble the ball straight out-of-bounds. It became a lay up drill. But for a desperation three pointer that fell at the buzzer, the Lady Lunas would have been up by FIFTY points at halftime. Instead, the score was 56-9. The Lady Lunas had scored 37 points in the second quarter, holding the Mustangs to just 2 points until the 3 went in at the buzzer. Nutz!

I was looking foward to the team hitting the century mark, but Coach Todd substituted liberally and often in the second half. Everyone got to play significant minutes. The Lunas put this one away 82-18. Championship game against Lake Oswego tomorrow night! Should be a good match-up.
