The Lady Lunas softball team continued to dominate with a
10-0 win over the Warriors of Kamehameha Schools Maui. Jessica Wallace was the
star, smacking a 3-run home run to break the game wide open. Hope Morikawa pitched a 1-hitter.
This game was supposed to have been played at Eddie Tam, but I got wind of it being moved (THANK YOU, PLAYERS FOR LETTING ME KNOW!). Unfortunately, the Maui News went to Eddie Tam and got nothing.

My Two Cents:
This was my second time shooting at
Lahainaluna’s softball field. I was not able to last season because the games
here usually started at around 4:00 p.m. on work days. I really like shooting
here as well. Access to the side fences by the dugouts are not as restricted as
the other fields. The downside is that for late afternoon games, you’re
shooting somewhat into the sun. Thus, a lot of the players are backlit and it
is hard to get accurate exposures on them. The backgrounds are not as contrasty
because the outfield fences are chainlink and not covered with blue tarp, like
the Patsy Mink Field. Otherwise, I cannot really complain about shooting at my
alma mater.
It had been raining all week and I was fortunate to be in
Lahaina on this day –otherwise I would’ve missed the game and been up at Eddie
Tam with the Maui News watching the grass grow.
Molokai was supposed to play Lahaina at the Civic Center for tennis.
Because of the rain on Friday, Molokai decided not to risk making the trip over
for Saturday’s match. Of course, come Saturday, it was a beautiful day and not
a drop of rain in the sky. With tennis cancelled, I was free to shoot softball.
