With their star player Keleah Koloi out the rest of the season with a knee injury, a very young Lahaina team was no match for the veteran, 8th grade-heavy team from Kihei. Kihei repeatedly threw the ball over the top on Lahaina’s half court trap defense for lay-up after lay-up. Unfortunately, the Lahaina girls never made the adjustment to take that away. It may be a long season for the defending champs. Growing pains, for sure.
