MIL VOLLEYBALL: Lahainaluna v. Kamehameha Schools Maui – March 7, 2012

Lahainaluna Varsity Volleyball 2011-2012: L to R: Kiko Fonohema, Tytus Lucas, Ansen Cabanilla, Mackey Veniegas, Will Robinson, Asi Fatongia, Kelii Uwekoolani, Sima Galoia, Eric Skrotzki

L to R: Will Robinson, Asi Fatongia, Kelii Uwekoolani, Sima Galoia, Eric Skrotzki, Jolimar Espiritu, Spencer  Perieff, Folau Tauese (cutoff: Misi Filikitonga and Jonah Reyes)

After shooting tennis down at the Shigesh Wakida courts, I headed up to the Lahainaluna gym to get shots of my first boys’ volleyball game of the season. Gone from last year’s team are Micah Arcangel, Leroy Rickard, TJ Rickard and Justin Balingit. Returning are Jonah Reyes, Kiko Fonohema, Semisi Filikitonga, Tytus Lucas,  and Erich Skrotzki. Trying to make a go around again from last year’s team are Jolimar Espiritu and Folau Tauese. Newcomers are seniors Spencer Perieff and Kealii Uwekoolani, Ansen Cabanilla, Mackey Veniegas, Ernest “Asi” Fatongia, William Robinson and Pousima Galoia. The team appears to lack a lot of volleyball experience but they are athletic and can hopefully learn quick.

The team got off to a good start with a four set win over Kamehameha Schools Maui: 29-27, 20-25, 25-17 and 25-23.
