A BRIEF LOOK AT THE KONAWAENA WILDCATS

Lahainaluna’s opponent in the HHSAA Division II football playoffs is the Konaawena Wildcats of the BIIF. Led by first year head coach Cliff Walter, the Wildcats will be a formidable opponent for the Lunas. The Wildcats were 11-1 this season and are ranked 22nd in the state.

Though in his first year at Konawaena, having been hired in April 2011, head coach Clifton Waters has many years of experience and success. He led Kealakehe High School to the BIIF championship in 2006, his only year there. Prior to that, he coached high school football and basketball in Canada. He led the Lethbridge Collegiate Institute Rams to 15 conference titles in 20 years, with a record of 260-20, including 3 undefeated teams and 134 players that went on to play collegiately.
