MIL Girls Volleyball: Lahainaluna v. Maui High - October 10, 2013

Final regular season game of the long season for the girls volleyball team. With senior captains and primary setters Lithe Pokipala-Waiohu and Kawena Murray out due to injury, things looked bleak for the Lady Lunas' chances against Maui High, who were still competing for the top two spots in the MIL. Plus, they were playing at Maui High's gym . . . on their Senior Night. Put that together, and yup, the Lady Lunas got smoked. But they gave a great effort, and Kaliko Bunz did a great job as setter. Just not enough weapons. Several members of the JV moved up and got the start and some playing time. Defensive specialist Mharicar Tan actually got some swings in as an outside hitter.

Lunas lost 3-0:  11-25, 20-25, 14-25.

Hopefully these girls continue to play volleyball next year and get some more of their friends to join them. It was another winless season, but I truly enjoyed taking photos at their matches.

Up next: MIL Tournament at Lahainaluna.
