The atmosphere at Lahainaluna’s gym was not the same with the game
being held on a Saturday, Boarders not on campus due to spring break and the
crazy girls basketball team members not stopping by after practice to support
the team.
Nevertheless, the girls played competitively, though inconsistently.
They got off to strong starts in each of the three sets, only to allow
Kamehameha back early and not bounce back. In the third set, Lunas were
actually up 20-9 then Kamehameha battled back. Lunas were up 24-20 but could
not even get a side out as the Warriors played error-free ball and took the third set and the match: 20-25,
18-25, 24-26.
Drove out to Lahaina to shoot some girls soccer (U14) then off to
Lahainaluna to shoot JV girls volleyball. Because it was Fall Break, several of
the JV girls were not available. Perhaps because of Fall Break, the girls
weren’t quite as focused out on the court. The result was an 0-3 loss to the
Warriors. The Warriors took 2 of 3 matches from Lahainaluna during the season.
