Lahainaluna mistakenly entered their Junior Varsity girls volleyball
team in the Seabury Hall Volleyball Jamboree, not realizing that the other MIL
schools would send their Varsity teams. Nevertheless, the girls were led by
Coaches Trixie Ganer and Benvon “Bula” Mahiai, with assistant coaches Hano
Ganer, Davilyn Ganer and Joseph Keanini. They
went 3-3. Games were 45 minutes, first team to 25. Lahainaluna scored
wins over St. Anthony, Maui Prep and Baldwin. They suffered losses to Maui
High, Kamehameha Schools Maui and host Seabury Hall.
The JV girls team consist of:
sophomores Minoaka Criste, Keolani Hill, Julia Bianco and Maygan Patch;
and freshmen Chelsea Domingo, Ashley Ganer, Kaitlin Hodgins, Lilikoi Carroll,
Melody Kaina-Tianio, Sierra Owlsley, and
Shay Lea Ruiz.
All in all, a great performance by the team and coaches. The future
looks bright for the program and their confidence should be sky high going into
the MIL regular season.
