LAHAINA GIRLS B.C. v. Upcountry W61-6 August 26, 2013

I finally got a chance to see the Lahaina Girls Basketball Club compete in a Maui County Women's League game against a team from Upcountry. The Lahaina girls, consisting of members that will play for the Lady Lunas, have been tearing up the league against high school and adult teams. Tonight, I was only able to shoot the first half because of a birthday dinner I had to attend at 6:30. Lahaina was up 27-2 at half and ended up winning 61-6.

The team members are: Senior Loke Basques, juniors Lindsey Bates, Taylor Bates, Lau Hafoka, Aloha Salem, Mina Faamu, and Kayla Blando-Kahaialii, Sophomores Andilyn Alavazo, Keleah Koloi, Fiemea Hafoka, Cameron Fernandez and freshmen Kalolaine Uhila, Lisa Hafoka and Kalena Balingit.

NOTE: Tried out two new lenses today: a Sigma 70-200 f/2.8 and a Tokina 28-70 f/2.8. The Sigma felt good and focused quickly. The zoom ring was smooth. Pictures came out a little soft and slightly out of focus, which may require some AF fine tuning. More my D7000 then the lens, perhaps, as I've had difficulty with back focusing on lenses used on the D7000. The Tokina was horrible with action. Slow focusing (if at all) and the zoom ring is so stiff at 50-70 that I ended up taking it off. It may be suitable for portrait photography but not anything that requires quick zooming and focus. I may have to sell that one on Craigslist.
